Description

Traditional approaches to data governance often prioritize broad metric alignment and high-level KPIs around data definitions over solving specific needs of data teams and stakeholders. This often leads to grueling cross-functional meetings, a lack of meaningful impact on day-to-day work, and ultimately, a data governance initiative that fizzles out or is not maintained. What if there was a more people-focused approach that solved the immediate needs of the organization while iterating on standards created out of those use cases?

By prioritizing the needs of those closest to the data, we leverage the passion and expertise of practitioners and their use cases to keep the momentum around governance alive. In this talk, we will share our experience with this approach to data governance, and how it can lead to better outcomes for our data teams and the organization as a whole.
