We’re entering an era where AI doesn’t just respond to typed commands, it can talk, listen, and understand in real time. Voice AI agents are emerging as the next step in human-machine interaction, enabling more natural and accessible ways to engage with technology. In this talk, we’ll explore what makes voice the most intuitive interface, how Voice AI agents differ from traditional chatbots, and the opportunities they unlock across industries; from customer experience to accessibility and beyond. I’ll also share a live demo powered by Telnyx, showcasing how an AI agent can hold a simple, natural conversation over voice. Attendees will leave with a clear sense of where Voice AI fits in the AI landscape, and why it’s poised to become the next big shift in how we interact with machines.

Sonam Gupta is a Developer Advocate with a background in data science and a passion for making AI more accessible, practical, and human-centered. She began her career as a Data Scientist after completing her PhD in Data Science, where her research explored linguistic measures of gender bias in social media. Over time, her focus expanded beyond research into building bridges between cutting-edge AI technology and the people who use it.
Most recently, Sonam served as a Senior Developer Advocate at aiXplain, where she worked closely with developers and enterprises to demystify AI agents, vector databases, and LLM workflows. She led initiatives such as certification programs, webinars, and community-driven events, while also contributing to product strategy and go-to-market campaigns. She is now a Developer Advocate at Telnyx, where she focuses on voice AI agents and the infrastructure that powers next-generation applications.
Outside of her role, Sonam is the host of AI Chronicles, a podcast where she interviews founders, researchers, and practitioners on the future of AI, multimodal systems, and the evolution of developer tools. She is also deeply engaged in the AI community as a speaker, event organizer, and mentor, creating spaces for inclusive dialogue and knowledge sharing.
Whether she’s explaining complex AI concepts to non-technical audiences, prototyping new projects, or writing reflective essays on technology and society, Sonam is driven by curiosity and a desire to help others navigate the fast-changing world of AI.
